Our Story: Dr. Ross

Dr Ross is an esteemed and highly respected member of the community, being a Compton native. He earned both neauroly and bio genetic engineering degrees from USC. With a very accomplished medical career, he has proven to be an expert is his field for many years. After retiring, he founded the Compton Community Garden to teach others about preventing illnesses by leading heallthy lifestyles. s role as director of Health and Wellness. HIs knowledge is invaluable, cand diligence for the community is not without notice.

History

Compton Community Garden was established in 2013, being located in one of LA's most food insecure areas It combats food apartheid by educating the community on biodynamic organic gardening and growing fresh produce for the community to harvest. In 2023 the land the garden sits on was put up for sale, but the community came together and raised half a million dollars within two weeks time to save the garden. Compton Community Garden is now its own 501(c)(3) organization ensuring that the land will remain a green space providing and educating for the community.

CCG was created (founded) to educate and grow fresh organic produce using regenerative practices, to assist families and individuals affected by food insecurity.
